The Curious Crafter is excited to announce a book signing and a weekend of workshops with knit celeb, Tanis Gray! Tanis will join us September 11-13, 2020. Class registrations are OPEN!
Tanis is the author of many knitting books such as Cozy Knits, Modern Baby Knits, Gradient Knits, and the recent Harry Potter: Magical Knits: The Official Harry Potter Knitting Pattern Book. She has over 500 patterns in her portfolio, and teaches knitting nationwide.
The first event of the weekend will be a book signing Friday, September 11 from 6 - 8 p.m. The book signing will be free, but space is limited and we ask that you reserve a place in advance. We will be taking phone reservations for the book signing starting mid to late summer. You don't have to wait until September to get Tanis' latest book, Harry Potter Knitting Magic, we carry it in store now!
Tanis Gray will conduct four workshops over the weekend: Cabling with the Agate Hat pattern; Fair Isle 201 - Anthophila pullover; Illusion Knitting with the Dark Mark Scarf pattern from Harry Potter: Magical Knits; and Fair Isle 101, where Tanis will teach beginning Fair Isle Technique with a debut cowl pattern for The Curious Crafter!
Fair Isle 101
Freaked over Fair Isle? Curious about stranded colorwork techniques? Intimidated by multiple strands of yarn in multiple colors? Not sure how gauge works or how to trap those floats? This is the workshop for you! We’ll cover basic Fair Isle knitting techniques for English, Continental and Combination knitters, tackle common issues, proper technique, color theory, how to trap floats, Fair Isle history and setting good Fair Isle knitting habits. We’ll put these techniques into practice while working up The Curious Crafter workshop-debuting cowl pattern inspired by Harry Potter.
